Basic Function
The Health Coordinator provides HIV testing and counseling; RESPECT intervention, referrals and linkages to support services; Cyber Outreach and other outreach strategies; education, information to increase prevention and alleviate awkwardness of HIV, substance abuse and domestic violence in specific populations (MSM).
Priorities
- Conduct RESPECT intervention in compliance with strict standards of CDC.
- Provide HIV pre/post counseling and testing.
- Reconcile testing forms.
- Provide referral and linkage services.
- Report positive results to Statistics/Surveillance.
- Maintain records tracking counseling and testing, outreach performance and inventory logs of health materials and condoms/lube.
- Submit monthly reports to Health Outreach Director
- Maintain concise documentation and program notes in the client records according to CDC standards.
- Work with other agencies, drug and mental health treatment centers, legal services and City and County AIDS programs that serve the community to ensure continuity of services to clients.
- Adhere to strict procedures of confidentiality, release of information and data security.
- Review program and process reports with supervisor and team to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- RESPECT Training certification.
- Knowledge of HIV prevention issues effecting gay men and MSM of all races and ethnicities.
- HIV/AIDS 501 Prevention Counseling, Testing and Referral.
- Rapid Testing training.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
